MEET OUR COACHING STAFF HERE AT AXIS.
KEVIN BARBOZA

Kevin Barboza has achieved success as a coach, trainer, and player. He played his college ball at Eastern Connecticut State, scoring over 1,000 points. After his fruitful collegiate career, he started two years for the Washington Generals/Harlem Globetrotters. He then spent four years playing professional ball in Portugal, leading his team to a country championship appearance and two division crowns.
His coaching resume includes leading the Boy’s Woonsocket High Varsity team to the State Championship game. He was also an Assistant Coach at Framingham State as well as the Strength and Conditioning coach at UMASS Lowell.
During his coaching and playing days, he developed a passion for training. He is committed to not only improving clients as basketball players, but as athletes in general.
Currently, Barboza is the owner of AXIS and director of the girls side of our AAU Program, North Shore Sports Academy. In addition to those roles coach Kevin is also the JV Boys Coach at MASCO High School.
COLIN HALPIN

Colin Halpin is known in the local hoop circle for his time as a player at Boston College High School and Suffolk University.
At Boston College High School, Halpin was a member of the 2007 Division 1 State Championship team. He went on to be named team Captain and Patriot Ledger All Scholastic. Following his time at BC High, Halpin decided to stay close to home and attend Suffolk University. There he was a four year starter, and two time captain. He went on to total 1345 career points and over 500 rebounds for the Rams.
Following his playing career, Halpin went on to become Suffolk University's lead assistant. He held this role for two seasons, before a one year stop as the Head Boys Varsity Coach at KIPP Academy (Lynn). After KIPP, Halpin went on to be an assistant at Emerson College for three year under Bill Curley. Currently, he is the head varsity coach at Wakefield High School.
MATT BARBOZA

Matt Barboza was a standout player at Bishop Hendricken in Rhode Island. He helped them win three state championships before doing a post-grad year at Marianapolis.
While at Marianapolis, Barboza was recruited by numerous division 1 and division 2 schools. He chose to attend Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire. During his three years there, Barboza was a jack of all trades. Playing everywhere from point guard to center. He helped lead his team to the division 2 Elite 8 in Louisville Kentucky before transferring back home to Johnson and Whales University ahead of his senior season. JWU won the GNAC in his lone season there, while Barboza connected on 43% of his threes.
Since that time, Barboza has been heavily involved in player development both at AXIS and with our AAU Program NSSA. He also serves as the JV coach at Wakefield High School.
BRANDEN BARBOZA

Branden Barboza was a three year varsity player at East Providence High School. He was a two year starter and a team captain his senior season.
Following his career at EP, Barboza went on to attend CCRI for one season. He played on one of the most successful CCRI teams in school history - contributing to a team that went to the Elite 8. From there Barboza went on to spend a year at JWU with his brother Matt. Then, he transferred to Suffolk University. Where he was a starter and stand out defender.
Since his college days, Branden has been involved with numerous different AAU programs. Including the Rhode Island Breakers and North Shore Sports Academy. He also led the East Providence JV Team to the State Championship in 2018.
